Terroir was born from a simple desire: to offer French products that have a clear origin, a sincere taste and a real story.
Not an accumulation of references, but a thoughtful selection, built around the terroir, know-how and respect for the product.

This grocery store was not born from an abstract business plan, but from a look at what we consume on a daily basis.

A desire to return to the essentials

Over time, the food supply has expanded, become standardized, and sometimes disconnected from its origin. Products travel far, recipes become homogenized, and the link with those who produce them gradually disappears.

Terroir was born from this observation: it was becoming difficult to know where products really come from, how they are made and why they have this taste.

The idea was not to offer “more”, but to offer better.

Building a grocery store differently

From the outset, Terroir was conceived as a select grocery store, not as a volume platform.
Each product was chosen individually, taking the time to understand its origin, its manufacture and the producer's approach.

This approach requires more time, more meetings, and more deliberate choices. But it allows for the development of a coherent offering, true to a clear vision.

Meeting with the producers

The creation of Terroir took place in rhythm with exchanges with producers.
Visits, discussions, tastings, sometimes doubts and often confirmations.

These meetings allowed us to build a direct relationship, based on trust, listening and mutual respect. They are now at the heart of the grocery store's identity.

A gradual and deliberate opening

The opening of Terroir was not done in haste.
The catalogue has been deliberately limited, in order to guarantee a readable and coherent selection.

Each new addition enriches the collection without disrupting its balance. This controlled progression allows us to remain true to the original spirit, without compromise.

Why a French grocery store in the Netherlands?

Setting up Terroir in the Netherlands responds to an obvious fact: there is a real curiosity for French products, but also a need for clear reference points.

Terroir is aimed at both informed enthusiasts and those who wish to discover French terroir in a different way, with education and transparency.
