About Us
Terroir, a French delicatessen in Amsterdam, selects and imports French artisanal products, whether they come from small producers or traditional houses recognized for the quality of their know-how.

I am Martin, and my mission is to make the great products of the French terroir accessible, without distorting them or making them elitist.
At Terroir, each product is selected for its taste, origin, and the artisan's expertise. From savory and sweet gourmet foods to condiments, preserves, ciders, and wines, we offer a carefully curated selection of authentic French products, sourced directly from committed producers.
No frills, no compromises: only products with character, designed for the pleasure of the table, sharing and discovering the true taste of the land.
It all starts at the table
Upon arriving in Amsterdam, I was faced with a simple observation: you can find French products here, but rarely a selection that tells a story, that highlights the artisans, the regions and the stories behind each product.
I wanted a place where we could find those flavors we cherish, not because they are impossible to find, but because they have an identity: a producer, a season, a method, a terroir.
A place where you don't just order a cheese or a bottle, but where you discover where they come from and why they are unique.
This is where Terroir was born:
the desire to offer in Amsterdam a coherent, personal and authentic selection, as if I were preparing a table for friends, with products chosen for their character.
What we put on the table
🥖 Authenticity: real products, chosen for their taste and their history.
🌾 Artisans, highlighting those who shape the land.
🍷 Sharing: simply gathering around the table.
🧀 Selection: Few, but good: consistency and high standards.
📦 Accessibility: The best of the regions, easy to discover here.
Let's eat, quite simply
At Terroir you will find a simply curated selection of French products:
honest, delicious and well-made products, chosen for what they bring to the taste and the shared moment.
For those who live in Amsterdam and like to find a touch of France, or discover it differently: through characterful wines, typical cheeses, artisanal charcuterie and some regional gems.
Here, there are no grand speeches: just products that have something to tell, and the pleasure of sharing them around a table.
The founder's story

I was born in Toulouse, to a Breton mother and a Burgundian father. Suffice it to say, I grew up surrounded by galettes, Burgundy wines, Sunday rugby, and specialties from the Southwest… and ultimately, a lot of time spent in the kitchen. At home, cooking, sharing, and talking about where the ingredients came from were simply part of life.
Living in New York and then Munich, I realized how difficult it can be to find certain products we cherish. Like many expats, I often asked those returning to France to bring me back “a good cheese,” “a bottle of wine,” “a little taste of home.” It became a ritual, almost a way to stay connected to my diverse roots.
After six years at the French Lycée in Munich as a teaching assistant and communications officer, where passing on knowledge was part of my daily life, an idea took hold: to share the stories and products of the artisans who contribute to the richness of our regions. Authentic products, imbued with identity, capable of bringing people together around a table and, above all, giving visibility to these producers who pour their heart and soul into making the products of their land sing.
Today, I live in Amsterdam, a city where cultures, flavors, and curiosities from around the world intersect daily. There, I still spend a lot of time in the kitchen, especially for my friends, sharing typically French recipes prepared with the products I'm passionate about offering.
This place is a small piece of France accessible in a few clicks, for those who miss it… or for those who simply want to taste the best of our local produce.
Welcome to Terroir: an online grocery store full of character, passionately chosen products, and regional stories to savor.
